The Results of YOUR Hard Work...
BY TIM SCHMIDT - USCCA FOUNDER
Tim Schmidt
You may remember that we held our most recent Concealed Carry Expo in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Everyone who attended the event last May had a blast, and I loved the chance to meet so many friends and members. But the whole shebang wasn't without its hitches.

You see, shortly before the Expo was to take place, Pittsburgh City Council passed several new ordinances that directly impacted not only all "yinzers" and their God-given right to self-defense but also us here at the USCCA. The council voted to break Pennsylvania law and approve three new restrictions on firearms and ammunition within the city.

There we were, just a few months away from thousands upon thousands of responsibly armed Americans showing up to see the newest in home- and self-defense firearms, holsters, ammunition and other technologies, and the City Council goes out of its way to let us know that they don't want us — or our members and attendees — in town. In January, I sent a letter telling them exactly how I felt about these unconstitutional and illegal actions.

Well, we soldiered through the Expo as well as we could (which, admittedly, is a lot easier when you still have an on-site live-fire range, dozens of seminars and almost 150 vendors), but we never forgot that anti-gun folks had targeted us (and everyone else who supports our Second Amendment). They'd singled us out because they disagreed with us, and they tried to use their political clout to make us — and our supporters — feel unwelcome in Pittsburgh.

That's why I couldn't be happier to share some good news:

This week, a Pennsylvania judge struck down ALL THREE of the restrictive and unlawful gun ordinances that the City Council passed earlier this year.

According to Chief Counsel Joshua Prince of the Firearms Industry Consulting Group, Judge James wrote:

The City has expended a large amount of energy attempting to categorize the restricted behavior in such a way that it is not expressly prohibited by Section 6120 of the UFA. Despite the City's effort to avoid the specific preemption set forth in Section 6120, they are not able to avoid the obvious intent of the Legislature to preempt this entire field.

I want to thank you for your help in always standing up for our right to keep and bear arms. Whether you wrote a letter to the Pittsburgh City Council, donated to the Allegheny County Sportsmen's League (ACSL)/Firearms Owners Against Crime (FOAC) "Pittsburgh Litigation Fund" or attended the USCCA Expo back in May, you ARE making a difference.

All of this — and the upcoming rally for gun rights in Washington, D.C., on Nov. 2 — has me on cloud nine. Don't forget that Concealed Carry Magazine Executive Editor Kevin Michalowski will be among those in attendance at the rally this Saturday, and, as always, keep March 20 to 22 open on your calendar to join us in Kansas City for what I'm certain is going to be the biggest and best Concealed Carry Expo yet.

Take Care and Stay Safe,
