Have you ever experienced one of those rare moments in life when you were moved by something so powerful — certain song lyrics, perhaps, or a breathtaking sunset — that you'll always remember exactly where you were and how you felt in that moment?

A few years back (although it certainly seems like only yesterday), I was lucky enough to experience one of those rare moments as I watched a short trailer of a film sent over by USCCA Member Dr. Patrick Johnston. Johnston had actually reached out to the USCCA a few weeks earlier asking for support and for us to consider allowing him to include our logo in a film he was producing.

But it wasn't until Johnston emailed me directly and included a short clip of that film — called The Reliant — that I got a serious case of the chills and knew we needed to get involved in a big way.

You see, I truly believed (and still do) that this film has the power to change the conversation about guns and the Second Amendment. In fact, I believed so much in what I saw in just a few short minutes that I immediately contacted Johnston and signed on as a co-producer of the film.

Here's a short synopsis of The Reliant:

CCR Article
When crisis strikes and their world crumbles, is God reliable to meet their needs, or must their faith remain blind to facts?

After an innocent trip to the store ends in rioting and chaos, father of five, Rick (Kevin Sorbo), rushes home desperate to gather his family and find safety. His plans are dashed when the very same armed men suddenly appear, led by the ruthless Jack (Brian Bosworth). Caught in the deadly crossfire, the children are forced to seek shelter in the surrounding woods.

Alone and vulnerable, the children's faith and family bonds are pushed to the limit, especially those of the eldest daughter, Sophie (Mollee Gray), who questions the morality of gun ownership but soon learns that in God all things are good, including her family's Second Amendment right to defend themselves. It is now up to the children to reclaim their home, find their parents and put an end to Jack's rampage.

At the heart of The Reliant is a love story. It's an anthem of hope in the hardest of times, of forgiveness, and of redemption.

Now, you can imagine that "a pro-Second Amendment, faith-based action film" doesn't just happen — especially in Hollywood.

The truth is, we needed a lot of time — and a lot of help — to get this movie off the ground.

That's why I couldn't be more excited to announce that The Reliant is finally hitting theaters next week. For one day ONLY — Oct. 24 — it will play on the big screen at 700+ locations across the country.

I would absolutely LOVE if you'd come on out and show your support for this incredible film (you can find a theater and buy tickets here). You may even catch a glimpse of yours truly!

I promise this is one you won't want to miss!
