Good Tidings and GUNS from My Family to Yours
BY TIM SCHMIDT - USCCA FOUNDERI don't know about you, but I just LOVE Christmas and everything it represents: Faith. Hope. Love. Giving and sharing and laughing with the ones I cherish the most. And, of course, the ultimate blessing and light: the birth of Jesus.
For me, Christmas is always the time of year when I feel the most hopeful. When everything around me feels a little brighter. When I look back on the ups and downs of the past 12 months and thank God for all of the blessings in my life. When I look forward to all that's ahead of me and vow to make the absolute most of it.
If only that spirit of Christmas—of kindness, of joy, of sacrifice—were alive a little more throughout the rest of the year...well, I think our world would be a better—and happier—place.
As much as many of us embrace and celebrate all the goodness that surrounds us, we also understand that evil never sleeps...not even on Christmas. And so, with the hustle and bustle of the season—when criminals are out in full force—it's crucial that we don't let our guards down.
That means paying a little extra attention when we're loading all those gifts into our trunks. Planning a little farther ahead when we leave our houses empty to go visit family for a few days. And, most importantly, carrying our firearms to protect ourselves and our loved ones no matter where we are.
I know...that's not very politically "correct." After all, folks like you and me know that carrying guns to protect ourselves "offends" some people. So suggesting that we continue to carry guns on Christmas? THAT will surely push some of those people over the edge.
After all, they'll say, if there's ANY time when we should feel safe...it's Christmas (er...the "holidays").
But we know better. We know that political correctness doesn't save lives.
We know that action saves lives. We know that good men and women with guns save lives.
And that's why, all month long, I've been giving away new guns to deserving Americans all across the country. I like to think of it as an abundance of common sense, political incorrectness, and Christmas spirit. :-)
As it turns out, I'm not alone. According to TODAY news, guns are topping Christmas lists all across the country: "The convergence of fears over terrorism, a perceived threat of gun laws being changed, and the Christmas holiday have sent gun sales soaring in what is already the busiest month of the year for firearm purchases."
Carrie Lightfoot, owner of The Well Armed Woman, adds that "it is a significant gift to arm the people you love with the tools and the training to protect themselves."
I couldn't agree more.
So, good tidings (and guns!) from my family to yours. I hope you and your loved ones have an absolutely blessed—and SAFE—Christmas!
Take Care and Stay Safe,
Tim Schmidt
